Q. Can I use my child’s existing phone with SMobile Systems Parental Control Edition?

A. You can, however the mobile phone must be a smart phone.  If you are not certain if your child’s phone is a smart phone please contact your carrier or do a Google Search on the mobile phone specifications.  Note: a data plan with your carrier is also required with a smart phone.  Summer of 2009, SMobile Systems will be launching Parental Controls on feature phones such as the Rant, Envy II , Motorola Razor, the Juke, and many other poplar mobile devices.

If you are still uncertain if your child’s device is compatible, please contact SMobile Systems at 1-866-323-0480 and we will confirm for you.


Q. Will my child know that SMobile Parental Controls is on their phone?

A. Yes they will see a small Security Shield icon in the Applications folder on the device. SMobile Systems Parental Control is not spyware and they will know that their phone is being protected from viruses, malware and spyware.


Q. Can my child remove the software from their phone?

A. Yes, your child can remove the Parental Controls software from their phone.  As a parent you will know if the application has been removed by logging in to the Parental Control dashboard and if there is no communication to the dashboard the application has been removed. 

For Windows Mobile Only, your child cannot un-install the application from the mobile device without the user name and password that was used when installing the application on the device originally.


Q. Can I keep my existing phone service?

A. Yes, SMobile Parental Controls works on all US and International Carriers.  You do not need to change phone service.


Q. How much does it cost?

A. SMobile Systems Parental Controls cost $29.99 per device for a one year license.  If you have multiple children you will need to purchase a one year license at $29.99 per device, however you can use one dashboard to monitor all your children’s activities.


Q. Can SMobile Systems Parental Control Edition block or monitor URL’s?

A. No, we cannot currently block or monitor url’s.


Q. If I am only interested in seeing the text messages, do I need my child’s device to be on a data plan with the carrier?

A. Yes, in order for SMobile Systems to capture text messages from your child’s device, the device must be on a carrier data plan as well as a text messaging plan.


Q. How do I download the software application to the device?

A. After purchasing the application from SMobile Systems, download the application to your home/work computer and save it to the desktop.  Note:  Please remember where you saved the application. Then push the application to the phone with the mobile device cable provided when you purchased the device via the appropriate desktop manager software.


Q. How do I access the Parental Control Dashboard?

Q. Is SMobile Systems Parental Control available in all States?

A. Yes, SMobile Parental Controls can be purchased and loaded on any mobile device worldwide.


Q. Does my smart phone device have to have GPS?

A. In order to use the Parental Controls locate functionality the device must be GPS enabled.


Q. Can I use the “Alert” notification feature only?

A. Yes, parents can select the features they want to monitor.  If a parent does not want to monitor all text messages they can turn that feature off and use only “Alert” notification.  A parent can pick and choose from the wide array of features they choose to view.


Q. Do I need to purchase the Parental Control software for my mobile device?

A. No, parents do not need the software application. Only the child to be monitored needs the application loaded on their mobile device.  Parents do all of the monitoring through the web-based dashboard which is accessed from any internet connection at home or work.
